Meet Matt

Greenville is Matt’s hometown; he knows it like his own backyard, his own personal soccer field.

Matt knows what it means to be on the receiving end of “Division I” client service, and he delivers the same attentive, pro-active expertise for his clients. He signed his first listing on his first day, in the Augusta Road area, and it went under contract on its first day on the market, too.

Matt grew up in the Augusta Road area, where his parents still live. After completing a bachelor’s in Business at Mars Hill University, where he also played soccer, he earned a second degree at Furman University in Health and Exercise Science Education.

Soccer has always been Matt’s passion. He has coached everything from club soccer all the way up to NCAA Division I Men’s and Women’s soccer. His commitment as a player and later as a coach has honed his expertise in communication, organization, attention to detail -- not to mention winning.

Before moving into the real estate industry, Matt taught elementary Physical Education from 2007-2018, all while coaching soccer, too. His wife, Melissa, also grew up in Greenville, and she owns Dear Lissie Photography. They live in the Parkins Mill/Gower Estates area of Greenville, where they are raising three energetic kiddos (2 of whom also love soccer). Together, they have personally bought, built, renovated, and sold four homes in the Greenville area – they’ve pretty much seen it all, and Joan Herlong was always their guide through each process. When Matt decided to apply his business and coaching skills to real estate, there was only one company he considered: Joan Herlong & Associates Sotheby’s International Realty.

In addition to being a top producing independent agent, he is also a member of the Joan Herlong & Associates Sotheby’s International Realty New Development Team. He also obtained his SC Real Estate Broker's license in 2022 to be able to have more expertise to serve his clients. Also in May of 2022, he joined the top producing team at Joan Herlong & Associates, The Furman Group. All 3 members are broker associates.

Matt earned two honors from Joan Herlong & Associates Sotheby’s International Realty in 2020. He was a member of President’s Circle for doing more than $5 million in total sales, In addition, he saw the highest increase in sales percentage, which earned him the Skyrocket Award. In 2021 he repeated the President's Circle award, and again in 2022.

I have appreciated my out of Greenville friends texts and messages checking to see how we are. We are ok and safe. Still no power at our personal home, but we were fortunate to not have any real damage. Just a ton of debris, and clean up. We didn't get what chimney rock and western NC got, but there are trees down and pwerlines down all over Greenville. Definitely the worst storm I have seen here in my 43 years. It has been great to see neighbors helping neighbors here, but there are certainly people that have had total loss, or will be out of their homes for a while while they are being repaired. Some sides of the street, great other side major damage. Appreciate all the tree, city, county, and energy contractors working away!
